Ryan Rivera is an internationally acclaimed, award-winning filmmaker and a Posse Scholar. He is completing his studies in Film and Music, Sound, and Technology at Connecticut College.
Ryan’s passion for filmmaking started at a very young age. He honed his foundational skills at Digital Arts and Cinema Technology High School while working as a critic for KIDS FIRST! Film Critics, interviewing stars like Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. Earning the Posse Scholarship at 16, Ryan explored the opportunities within Connecticut College's film department. He will graduate with his bachelor degree in May.
His latest narrative film, Those Who Don’t (2024), has been screened both in his hometown of New York and internationally in Spain. In Fall 2024, this film won Best Student Film at IndieHouse in Barcelona, Spain . It also won best Hispanic/Latino student film at IndieFest in California.
His most recent documentary, Pieces of Time (2024), has been entering the film festival airwaves as well. In January 2025, this project won best student documentary at the International Gold Awards in New York City.
Ryan is currently working on a new narrative film that explores both isolation and empowerment that comes with aging in a film titled Capturada.
